This bill is proposed by Shelly Yacimovich, the legislator responsible for labour matters, and the Constitution, Law, and Justice Commission is already on Sunday. The bill was approved at the second and third meetings.

The bill states that Israel’s textile factory will win the preferential bid, even if the bid price is 50% higher than the lowest price of international competitors.

Yachimovich has worked hard for this bill for four years. Earlier parliaments passed the bill. The majority of votes were in favour, reaching 60 votes. Since then, Yachimovich has been engaged in sincere discussions with government officials and manufacturers' associations until everyone agrees on how to interpret the bill and how to formulate rules and regulations.

Yachimovich said on Sunday that the contents of the relevant agreement were completed in advance and it is expected to be approved in the next few weeks. Therefore, it can be implemented immediately and completely. She stressed that when it comes to providing products for consumers of the Great Defensive System, the law requires first consideration of Israeli textile factories, which will protect thousands of job opportunities in Israeli factories and, at the same time, may create new jobs.

MK Yachimovich stressed that Israeli soldiers, prisoners, and prison guards will no longer wear uniforms imported from China.
